Other Projects
Icelandic Research Fund 2020 - CISIM - Comprehensive monitoring of Icelandic glaciers using Sentinel data, in-situ observations and modelling for understanding short term variations of ice flow, glacier surges and jökulhlaups (2020 - 2023)
ENVEO is partner in the CISIM project, aiming on advancing the understanding of glacier dynamics to improve models used for projections of glacier changes due to climate change. The dynamic processes include channelled ice flow, glacier surges and jökulhlaups. Processing methods for up-to-date ice-velocity measurements from Sentinel-1 SAR data are impoved and adapted to Icelandic conditions. Results are combined with advanced glaciological models to study glaciological processes and to improve the understanding of the glaciers' response to climate changes and to sudden changes in water input to the base of the glaciers due to surface melting and rain, and during jökulhlaups and surges.
Financed by the Icelandic Research Fund 2020.

OEAW Earth System Sciences - Hidden.ice (May 2019 - May 2022)
The overarching goal of the project "Hidden.ice - Changing debris cover on Eastern Alpine glaciers: Quantification and hydrological impacts" is the generation and evaluation of a scientific base line for debris cover on Eastern Alpine glaciers for a) consideration in future glacier and runoff scenarios, b) for the development of monitoring systems for glacier hazards in connection with the relocation of debris and c) for the of hydraulic sediment transport modelling in high mountain catchments. ENVEO is responsible for the multi-temporal detection of debris cover on glaciers in Austria from high resolution optical satelltie data.
Financed by the Austrian Academy of Sciences' (OEAW) Research Programme Earth System Sciences (ESS).
